Date unavailable In 1999 (or was it 2000?), the American Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) decided the world needed a new, exciting game show, and so they came up with the famous Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, starring Live! star Regis Philbin (complete with no Kathy Lee! America rejoiced...). The wrongly-punctuated trivia program soon grew into a phenomenon, though today's episodes mostly consist of low-rated celebrity shows. The show was popular, though, and Jellyvision, maker of You Don't Know Jack decided to cash in on the franchise, and nabbed the rights to develop the first of several poor titles based on the show.The atmosphere of the game feels a lot like the show, admittingly, though it's all simple Shockwave effects. The keyboard is the only controller, and the multiple-choice answers correspond to their respective keys: A, B, C, and D. Each round starts with a Fastest Finger question, where you are asked to put a series number of answers in order. Up to 4 humans can participate in the Fastest Finger question, though only the winner can advance to the actual game.
Like the show, the questions are separated into 15 queries, the first five being worth 100, 200, 300, 500, and 1000 dollars. Once the $1000 question is answered correctly, the player is guaranteed to walk away with the imaginary cash, and reaching the 32,000 and 1,000,000 dollar questions guarantee that money also. The earlier questions are easy enough, but once you get up to the higher ones things start getting tricky. That is, of course, in your first 15 or so times playing. Questions will start repeating a lot after you've played several games, and knowing those answers pretty much takes all the fun out of it. However, they are well thought-out and written, and as an occasional trivia game, it is great.
Overall, players may feel a little intimidated by Regis' annoying anecdotes (they are not funny, Regis...) more than the questions, and I can't see myself honestly recommending this title to anyone. Ever.
Oh, and I apologize for the rather short review - the game is almost nothing anyway, and thus there isn't much to talk about.
