Reviewed by Jason Venter (November 26, 2007) Of course, Uncharted is a game. It's not a perfect one, either. That means that for all of its visual splendor and for every moment you're so immersed that you'd jump out of your skin if the phone rang—and really, that side of things can't possibly be emphasized enough—the title sometimes pulls you out of its version of reality and unceremoniously dumps you in mediocrity's lap. |

The preceding was said by Sir Francis Drake, a believed ancestor of the games main character, Nathan Drake. You probably recognize Sir Francis Drake from your history textbooks. Reviewed by microwavedapple (May 12, 2008) Think Indiana Jones meets Mission Impossible; that's what Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is like. You'll spend your time exploring a mysterious island, swinging from vines...and blowing dudes up. I compare Uncharted to movies because that's what it is like most. It feels like a high-budget, no holds barred blockbuster from Micheal Bay. Drake's Fortune embraces this, and delivers one of the most beautiful, memorable and intense experiences in years. |

Reviewed by Suskie (December 30, 2009) The more games like Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune I play, the more convinced I am that cover-based gunplay is simply becoming the norm, and that I should stop labeling these games “Gears of War clones.” It’s not like Epic are cursing other development teams for profiting from their idea after their own franchise tanked – this obviously is not the case – so let’s just accept the duck-and-cover system as the natural next step in the long-running shooter genre.
