Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars review

Rob Hamilton says: "Some of the things which make combat so easy also add to its charm, because they make fights far more interactive than one would expect from a turn-based RPG. While tapping the attack button at the proper time during a character's turn will essentially make every blow they land a critical hit, it also adds to the fun, as this is one game where you won't be mindlessly tapping the attack button."

lurkeratlarge says: "Depending on your sense of humor, the picture of Mario - Nintendo's mascot plumber - in an RPG can either be hysterical or terrifying, especially considering the track record of the company making it. Envision Mario delivering long, angsty monologues, or Bowser brainwashing Luigi into helping him kidnap Princess Toadstool. Perhaps, instead of dispatching enemies with the traditional bop of the head, Mario can swing a sword at thin air and watch a number pop above its head! "

royalranger says: "Some may have never thought it would happen. Some may have thought they would never see the day. But it happened. Nintendo and Square teamed up for the first time in an effort to co-create a game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Combining Nintendo's great mascot with Square's great RPG-creating abilities, 1996 saw Mario in his first RPG, in the hit game Super Mario RPG. "
