F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon review

Reviewed August 29, 2008

Lewis Denby says: "F.E.A.R. is essentially a one-trick pony, but is salvaged by the fact that it's an exceptionally clever one. F.E.A.R. does 'Bullet Time' better than any title has managed yet. It somehow functions a whole load better from the first-person perspective than it ever did in its third-person origins, and it forms the backbone of F.E.A.R.'s trick. This is Monolith's take on FPS set-pieces. The twist? Create your own."

F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon review

Reviewed July 13, 2006

amlabella says: "Through the years, there have been all kinds of first person shooters released. There's the usual formula of a good combination of guns with some fast-paced action, and so on. But with F.E.A.R, Sierra has created something new. It's combined the aspects of a Japanese horror film with exciting and frantic action to create one of the best FPSs out there. "

Even if you aren’t a tactician when it comes to first-person shooters and prefer run-and-gun mayhem, this game will slow you down and force you into the crouch position. F.E.A.R will have you leaning around corners, taking very careful..."

JoeTheDestroyer says: "Rather than delivering an outstanding first-person shooter with plenty of chills and psychological taunts, it seems like the developers just copied and pasted the same battle repeatedly and tacked on a scary girl."
