He's got this youth, this innocence that reminds me what it's like to have a dream and hold onto it. He's not perfect; he crashes, he fails, things don't go like he plans. Things look bleak, hopeless. But he just keeps going, and even though he's not the first hero with determination, he's one of the best portrayed and most easily identifiable. After all: Who hasn't dreamed of flying?

A sense of serenity permeates the night air, blinking lights lining the makeshift runway providing a fitting opposite to the sea of stars above. A blue-haired boy, Yuki, is sitting at the controls of what looks like a boat with wings, and his companion makes sure everything is in working order. The final checks are completed, and soon the engine of the odd boat-plane roars to life. With a slight lurch it starts forward, picking up speed on the downward slope of the runway until it jumps graceful...

I'll say it right now. Grandia III is my first game in the Grandia series, so I won't be comparing it to any other game in the series. However, the Grandia franchise is mostly known for its battle system, which is arguably one of the best there is out there in todays market. But a great battle system alone doesn't make a great RPG, and I think that Square Enix may have forgotten that.
