Ouendan is as weird a game as you could envisage, but after you’ve experienced its tense, chaotic action and warmed to its eccentric cast you’ll keep coming back to improve your score and relive the artistic comic book plots. Few hand-held games have exacted this kind of hold on me, but then few games ask you to tap circles to the beat so three cheerleaders -- male cheerleaders -- can inspire people to succeed. |

Reviewed by Michael Scott (July 31, 2005) Nintendo's Ouendan is the feel good, surprise hit of the year. Coming straight out of left field, it's infectious good will and high spirits are guaranteed to make a believer of anyone dissatisfied with life. Like the way its hapless characters find themselves confronted and confounded by everyday troubles, players will no doubt identify with the situations they face. |

Reviewed by woodhouse (April 05, 2007) Intelligent gamers around the globe imported Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan when it was released in 2005. I’m not that smart. Elite Beat Agents had to smash its quirky brilliance into my brain to make me realize that its Japanese predecessor could be anything more than a foreign novelty. This is, after all, a game where a male cheerleading squad inspires people to overcome life’s tribulations.
