Let me start off by saying that if you are looking for great graphics and being able to control all the on-field action, this game is not for you. This game may seem simple, especially with there being next to no pictures.
But this is a great game for those who want to play owner/general manager for a baseball team. You can either play with the real major league teams or you can create you own league and have fictional players.
The main premise of the game is to create a baseball powerhouse. You do this via trades, signing free agents and development of minor league players. And it is realistic, such as minor leaguers improve with time, older players will be more prone to injury and stats will fall. Where your stadium is will affect how well your pitchers/hitters will fare. (ex. The Colorado Rockies is a great hitters park, bad pitchers park).
Not only can you sign/trade/groom players, you can take over and build a new stadium, set prices for food and stadium tickets. You can even decide what to do about whether or not to black out TV games when the team plays at home.
Overall, not a flashy game, but more than accomplish what the game is about. Not much sounds, outside of play-by-play sounds. If you have ever wanted to create you own team or run a major league team your way, this game is a real gem, not to be passed up. Especially since you can get this game for under $20 at most places.
You can even go and download roster updates. So if you want to play with players of days past or completely up to date accurate rosters you can. And since you can play this game almost indefinitelly, there is a ton of replayability.
I've had this game for over 1-1/2 and I still play this game a lot, almost every day. This is a extremely addicting game, especially since you can customize it and run it to your liking.
