After a certain point in the game, most players will be used to that sort of chaotic action, as The Suffering revels in it. Torque spends much of the game trapped in a lunatic’s nightmare, surrounded by panicking guards and inmates fighting each other, as well as their otherworldly foes.

In The Suffering, the abominations you encounter are not mazes to find your way past, but obstacles to be destroyed. Like a 1970s grindhouse flick, you’ll find yourself standing amid piles of bodies, blood drenching every scrap of skin and clothing left on your body.

The suffering is a game that should have been a survival horror game, but for some reason the creators didn’t see it that way. It is a game where you play the role of Torque, who was convicted for the murder of his family. And you have to decide whether he is guilty or not. Along the way to figure out this very strange mystery you encounter otherworldly incarnations of the prison’s bloody history. The object is to get out alive, and decide Torque’s fate.
