Here we a have a sequel that you can proudly call brilliant. Infamous 2 even betters its predecessor; it overtakes it like a rally car with incomparable velocity. It’s a sandbox classic, with enough punch and grace to enlighten the man or woman who chooses to jump in. Yet again you play as Cole, a man with an electrical heart, and a scarred mind. He is one of the most enigmatic protagonists ever seen in my opinion, in the gaming world that is. He leaves Empire City in the past, and uses New Marais as a piece of the present.

The storyline is profound and interesting. Cole’s old friend Zeke is back, back to aid his electrifying comrade, Cole wants justice, and he wants to defeat the beast that is gearing closer to the city. To try and annihilate the beast, you must upgrade your powers, to do this, you must inject spheres into your body, every time this is done, Cole becomes rejuvenated and empowered. You can take advantage of new melee attacks, Cole has a new weapon to showcase, and it’s like a sword of colossal power, a dagger that will kill any hearts coated in black.

Cole is less sluggish in Infamous 2, his movement is more fluent and smooth, his powers a more urgent and manic, this makes killing an enemy more desirable and fun. When you fight, you fight hard, when Cole takes down enemies, he is enraged and full of mania. His personality is straight forward, he talks when he needs too, he doesn’t show any clear emotion, and I am not to saying his heart is coated in a thick armor, it still beats the same as the man that stands before him in battle.

New Marais has its undesirable parts, but it also has some beautiful spots. Its isn’t as dark and as dreary as Empire City, it has a little more vibrancy, a little more cohesive character. There is more diversity and things to accomplish, like more side quests. You can travel and find new avenues, like Flood town and the red light district. There is plenty to see, more to fix your starry eyes upon. You meet new enemies like giant ice creatures and even normal pedestrians will hunt and kill you if you frustrate them or kill their friends and family.

In Infamous 2, you can pick which way you want to go, which emotion you want to ruffle, do you want to be bad? Or do you want to be good? You choose. This mode was also incorporated in the first game, if you become the hero, people will adore you, and they will invite you into their glorified hearts. If you choose to be the villain, then obviously you do bad things, you kill needlessly, endlessly, and you pulverize and leave them for dead. Your electric power will turn red if you choose to intrude and kill frightened hearts.

As I mentioned before, there are massive quantities of side missions to complete, these are not mandatory, and the story missions are the ones to conquer. By doing this, you move the intriguing fable forward, like a conveyer belt carrying thousands of lit dreams. You meet Kuo and Nix throughout the game, Kuo only wants to see the goodness seep through Cole’s pores, but Nix wants to see the more chaotic side of the main character. You choose your fate.

Infamous 2 is a game that will make your mind embark on straightening out its cresses. It’s a game that will force you to take notice; it’s a title that was made with the utmost creativity and cohesion. As Cole, you use your powers for either the greater good, or the damaging bad, you choose your destiny. You choose the path of fire, or the path bright lit with streetlamps and coated in beautiful, eloquent flowers. Infamous 2 has a buzz about it, like a bee licking up the last of the nectar. Play it and be thrilled.
